About Nation of Language
Nation of Language is an American post-punk/synth-pop trio based out of Brooklyn, New York. Comprised of singer-lyricist Ian Devaney, guitarist and programmer Grant Zubritsky, and drummer Lawrence Wallace, the band synthesizes their lyrical themes of modern dialectics and soundscapes often inspired by the 80s new wave sound. Their first single, "The Motorist," was released digitally on October 5th 2018 and cemented their status as an international indie sensation. The group's debut EP, Introduction, Presence, followed in April 2019 and was released on Double Double Whammy. Nation of Language released their follow-up full-length studio album, titled "Stubbornly Persistant Illusion," on July 10th 2020. This album showcased their continuing experimentation with unique sonic palettes that draw from both modern (synth-pop) and retro (new wave and post-punk) influences.
