Savage, born Demetrius Savelio, is a rapper from New Zealand who earned independent success before being signed to the prominent record label Universal Music Group in 2003. He is best known for his 2005 single “Swing”, which hit the Top 10 on the Australian Singles Chart and was certified four times platinum in the country. In 2008, he earned his first number one hit single in New Zealand with “Moonlight”, followed by two further top ten hits in the country, “Wild Out” and “They Don’t Know” in 2012 and 2013 respectively. He has also released several studio albums throughout his career, with 2012’s The Savage Movement being the most successful. In addition to his singles success in Australia and New Zealand, he has also achieved recognition on the UK Singles Chart, where his 2012 collaboration with Rita Ora, “R.I.P.,” peaked at number 2
