Soda Stereo was an alternative rock band from Argentina which was very influential in the Latin American rock scene during their existence from 1982-1997. The group was led by Gustavo Cerati, who sung lead vocals and played guitar, and consisted of bassist Zeta Bosio and drummer Charly Alberti. Their music combined elements of new wave, post-punk, and prog rock, and was often considered revolutionary for their sound and lyrical content. During their successful career, they released eight studio albums, had numerous hits, and won multiple awards. They are also credited with helping to create what was later known as the ‘Argentine Rock’ movement and inspiring generations of Latin American music. After Cerati's death in 2014, Soda Stereo became widely recognized as one of the most iconic Latin rock bands of all time.
