The Busy Twist is an Afro-rock group from South Africa formed in 2005. The band consists of nine members with multiple vocalists and instrumentalists from the townships of Joburg and Pretoria. They play their own unique style of Afro-rock, which blends traditional South African rhythms and instruments with hip-hop, rock, and reggae influences. The band's debut album, The Busy Twist, was released in 2007 and was positively received in their homeland, garnering them a nomination for Best Alternative Music Album at the South African Music Awards. Their music has since grown in popularity, receiving airplay in numerous countries across the continent and beyond. The group has toured North America, Europe, and across Southern Africa, where they have gained a devoted fan base. The Busy Twist continues to be one of South Africa's most beloved bands and a popular live act.
