Hootie and the Blowfish is an American rock band from Columbia, South Carolina, best known for their 1994 single "Hold My Hand". The band was founded in 1988 by lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Darius Rucker, lead guitarist Mark Bryan, bassist Dean Felber, and drummer Jim "Soni" Sonefeld. They released their first album, Cracked Rear View, in 1994, which went on to become the 20th best-selling album of all time in the US. The breezy, southern-rock sound of the album produced a series of hit singles including "Let Her Cry," "Only Wanna Be With You," and "Time."

The band experienced more success with their extended play release in 1996 titled Fairweather Johnson and two additional studio albums, 1996’s Musical Chairs and 1998’s Musical Chairs, both reaching Platinum status. After going on hiatus in 2008, they reunited in 2019 with new music and embarked
