Archers of Loaf was an American indie rock band formed in Chapel Hill, North Carolina in 1991. With a unique sound and songwriting style that drew influence from punk, noise rock, and classic rock, the band released four albums between 1993 and 1998. They developed a cult following in the US and the UK for their energetic and and hard-hitting live shows, and are often credited with helping to create the sound associated with the American "indie rock" movement of the mid- to late-1990s. In the years since their breakup, they remain a strong influence on modern indie rock, and their albums have continued to be critically acclaimed. The group reunited for several live performances in 2011 to celebrate the reissue of their albums, delivering shows that were just as energetic as their original performances.
