About Pedro the Lion

Pedro the Lion is an indie rock band hailing from Seattle, Washington, formed by singer-songwriter David Bazan in 1997. Bazan wrote the band’s songs, sang vocals, and played guitar, later incorporating members in various lineups. The band released five studio albums, ranging from 1998 to 2006, as well as two live albums. Their sound often incorporates elements of ambient music, experimental rock, and lo-fi aesthetics. Lyrically, Pedro the Lion’s music often centers on themes of religion, morality, and interpersonal relationships. Bazan's lyrics throughout his career have been informed by his Christian faith. After breaking up the band in 2006, Bazan returned to Pedro the Lion in 2018.
