Galactic is an American funk and jazz jam band from New Orleans, Louisiana. Notable for their live performances, they often collaborate with other local and national acts. Galactic has released nine studio albums since 1994 and has toured extensively. Their sound draws from funk, rock, hip hop, electronica, and jazz, and borrows influence from many New Orleans traditions. In addition to their live performances, Galactic has released numerous compilations and live albums, as well as a number of critically-acclaimed studio albums. Their most recent release, Already Ready Already, was a collaboration with funk singer Princess Shaw. They have collaborated with rapper Juvenile, jazz organist Dr. Lonnie Smith, and many other hip hop and jazz legends.
