About Sturgill Simpson
Sturgill Simpson is an American country music singer and songwriter. He was born in Jackson, Kentucky in 1978 and began his musical career in the 2000s. In 2013, Sturgill Simpson released his critically acclaimed first album High Top Mountain, which earned him an Americana Music Association Award nomination. After releasing his second album Metamodern Sounds in Country Music in 2014, Simpson gained wider recognition. His 2016 album A Sailor's Guide to Earth won the Grammy Award for Best Country Album and Album of the Year. Since then, Simpson has released two more albums: Sound & Fury in 2019, and Cuttin’ Grass, Vol. 1 in 2020. His style is described as a mix of country, blues, and psychedelic rock, plus occasional honky-tonk.
