Basia Bulat is a Canadian singer-songwriter who blends Folk, Pop, Baroque and Electronic music. Her self-titled debut album, released in 2007, traversed themes of fear and vulnerability. The album earned critical acclaim, with the song " Little One" as being featured in a famous ad campaign.

Basia continued with her 2010 album "Heart of My Own" which covered the themes of identity, longing, and emotional space, while incorporating elements such as strings, programming, banjo, and harmonium. Her further albums "Tall Tall Shadow" (2013) and "Good Advice" (2016) offered a deeper exploration in her artistry as she delved into larger and more ambitious arrangements with each release. She received a Juno Award nomination for "Tall Tall Shadow" as adult alternative album of the year.
