About Cranes

Cranes are an English alternative/dream pop band formed in 1989 by Jim and Alison Shaw. The group initially gained attention for their shoegaze-inspired sound as well as their dramatic and cinematic aesthetic. They established an international cult following with the release of their 1992 album Forever which received favorable reviews and reached number one on US college radio. Over the course of their career, Cranes have released nine studio albums, one EP and several singles. They continue to record and perform live shows internationally. In 2016, they released Wings of Joy, their most accessible album to date, which showcases their dark dream pop style along with strands of electronica and glam rock elements.
