David Eugene Edwards is an American singer and multi-instrumentalist most widely recognized as the frontman of alternative country and folk rock bands 16 Horsepower and Woven Hand. Originally from Colorado, Edwards created the band 16 Horsepower in 1992, initially playing raw blues and gospel-influenced folk with a showcase of his unique vocals. He currently heads the bands Woven Hand and Slim Cessna's Auto Club. His other musical projects include the folk and roots side project work of the Mutual Admiration Society, performing with acclaimed harpist and vocalist Sera Cahoone, and producing the former's debut. Edwards' music is heavily influenced by religious themes, the spirituals and hymnals of his upbringing, and Appalachian Old-time music. He has released several recordings on label Thrill Jockey and performs across Europe, North America, and Australia.
