Detroit In Effect, comprised of Gerald Mitchell and Blake Baxter, made their debut in the late 80s. They pioneered a sound that drew from all types of electronic music including techno, house, electro, and funk. The duo found quick success in the Detroit music scene and gained widespread recognition for their classic releases, such as "R U Ready" and "Yo Yo Get Funky." National tours and several other releases followed, most notably their iconic album, DisPEARlD, which featured collaboration from Derrick May and Juan Atkins. Detroit In Effect continue to tour, DJ, and release music, defining themselves as pillars of the Detroit techno movement.
