Dj Premier (real name Christopher Martin) is an American record producer, widely known as one of the iconic forces behind the emergence of the golden age of hip-hop throughout the 1990s. He is sometimes referred to as the "King of Beats", and noted for his signature boom-bap production style. Primo is widely associated with numerous legendary collaborations, his first notable effort being with Gang Starr's DJ Guru in 1989. Since then, he has produced for the likes of Nas, Notorious B.I.G, Jay-Z, Busta Rhymes, Big L, Snoop Dogg, KRS-One, Royce da 5'9" and Fat Joe, amongst many others. Dj Premier also makes appearances on the turntables as a DJ and mixer, while keeping a strong performing presence live in both domestic and international clubs.
