Gary Lucas is an American guitar virtuoso and composer who has been active in the music industry for over five decades. He started playing guitar at the age of 11 and has toured extensively with many different bands throughout his career, most notably his experimental rock band Gods and Monsters. He is considered a pioneer in the fields of avant-duet and improvisational guitar music, and his singular approach to playing has earned him praise from rock icons such as Jeff Buckley and David Bowie. Lucas has also composed and collaborated on many diverse projects, including soundtracks for film and television, orchestrations, jazz, and traditional classical works.
