Jane's Addiction is an American rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1985. The band is composed of vocalist Perry Farrell, guitarist Dave Navarro, drummer Stephen Perkins, and bass guitarist Chris Chaney. Taking influence from punk, funk, and glam rock, the band named themselves after Farrell's housemate Jane Bainter. Jane's Addiction emerged at the forefront of the early 1990s alternative music scene. Their vivacious live performances and unique sound inspired the nu-metal genre. Their total album sales have exceeded 8 million copies worldwide. The band has earned two GRAMMY nomination in 1992 and 1993 while releasing several of classic hits such as "Jane Says", "Stop!" and "Been Caught Stealing". They have reunited on and off since 2001 and are currently still touring.
