Jewel is an American singer-songwriter, guitarist, poet, and actress. She was born Jewel Kilcher in 1974 and began singing and writing songs in her teens. She signed her first record deal with Atlantic Records in 1995.

Jewel released her debut album, "Pieces of You", in 1995. The album quickly became a success and yielded the hit singles "Who Will Save Your Soul" and "You Were Meant for Me". Depending on the region, the album sold between 12 and 20 million copies worldwide.

Subsequent albums released by Jewel, such as Spirit (1998) and 0304 (2003) produced hit singles such as "Hands", "Standing Still" and "Intuition". Update, Jewel's first independent album, was released in 2008 and earned a Grammy nomination. Jewel released her ninth studio album, Picking Up the Pieces, in 2015.
