Kirk Hammett is best known as the lead guitarist for the iconic thrash metal band Metallica, a role he has held since 1983. With the band, he has gone on to achieve tremendous success around the world, recently releasing their 10th studio album Hardwired...to Self-Destruct in 2016. In 2018, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with Metallica for his work.

Outside of his tenure with Metallica, Hammett has also released collections of original solo work and collaborated with a number of legendary musicians including Ozzy Osbourne, the Cure, and Steve Vai. He has been featured on many records from other major and indie bands, as well as producing several live albums. Additionally, he has appeared in many documentaries, television shows, and movies, and even received his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2019.
