Martin Barre is an English multi-instrumentalist and composer best known for his long-time work as lead guitarist for the British rock band Jethro Tull. He joined the band in 1968 and was an integral part of the classic lineup. His complex guitar riffs, musical improvisation, and extended solos were instrumental in the band's sound.He was acclaimed as one of the finest guitarists of his generation, and Rolling Stone magazine named him the 78th greatest guitarist of all time in 2003.

Outside of Jethro Tull, Martin Barre has been involved in numerous projects both as a contributing musician and as a bandleader. He has to date released twenty albums with his own Martin Barre Band, often collaborating with other musical luminaries. He also is a sought after session musician, appearing on albums by artists as diverse as Ian Anderson, Pavlov's Dog, David Gilmour, and Fairport Convention.
