Mephiskapheles is an unconventional funk/punk/hip-hop trio from New York, NY. Formed in 1991, they have been described as a ska and reggae band with an added twist of hardcore. The group's unique sound is based on the accordion riffs of vocalist/accordionist Olga, as well as the songwriting skills of the other two members: Dave and Mike. They are best known for their hit single "Satan Stole My Weed," which was included on the 1995 compilation album Ska Bonanza. Since then, they have toured extensively in the US, Europe and Japan. They have released eight studio albums since 1995, as well as numerous EPs and compilation albums. Mephiskapheles also incorporates a strong political and social message in their music, and are vocal proponents of animal rights, as well as challenging oppressive regimes, intolerance and poverty.
