About Metric

Metric is an alternative rock/synthpop band formed in 1998 and based in Toronto. Founded by Emily Haines and James Shaw, the group consists of five members and has released six studio albums to date. The band began to gain recognition with their 2003 album Old World Underground, Where Are You Now? and achieved mainstream success with their 2009 album Fantasies. Metric has won numerous awards including Juno Awards and the 2012 CASBY Award. Their musical style incorporates influences from techno, pop, rock and new wave and has earned them critical success for their complexity and experimentation. Metric is a highly regarded, popular Canadian artist and continues to work on new material for their much anticipated upcoming albums.
