Michael Rother is a German musician and songwriter known for co-founding the innovative experimental rock bands Neu! and Harmonia in the 1970s. He is a highly influential figure in the development of electronic and ambient music. He later pursued a solo career, releasing several well received albums, including Flammende Herzen (1977), Katzensprung (1982), and Es gab einmal (2011). Rother also collaborated with a range of artists, including Kreidler, Cluster, and Brian Eno. He produced two albums with the band Kraftwerk and provided soundtracks for films such as The American Friend (1977) and Veronika Voss (1982). In recent years, Rother has continued to tour, mainly in Europe as well as the US and Australia, and he has enjoyed a resurgence in popularity with young musicians.
