The Sacramento Philharmonic and Opera is one of the leading performing arts organizations in the Sacramento region, serving as both a professional symphony orchestra and opera company. The current organization was established in 2015 through the merger of the Sacramento Philharmonic (which was formed in 1999 after the original Sacramento Symphony, founded in 1948, folded) and the Sacramento Opera.
