A Choctaw songwriter, musician, producer, and singer from Shawnee, Oklahoma, who had been performing for several years, when she had a run of terrible luck – three car accidents in three months, the latter of which left her unable to pick up a guitar for over a year. But she overcame it all, releasing another lauded full-length album in 2020. She plays music that is informed by several strains of folk while also reflecting the influence of contemporary indie sounds. Of Native American heritage, Crain's voice is strong while possessing an expressive quaver that adds to the emotional impact of her songs, which are personal efforts that blend a contemplative introspection with a keen eye for the world around.
