Slaid Cleaves is an Austin-based American folk-singer/songwriter known for his narrative lyrics and sparse arrangements. His music often blends stories of the everyday struggle and rural ethos of his upbringing in Maine with an acoustic blend of country, blues, and rock. He has produced six studio albums including No Angel Knows (1996), Broke Down (2000) and Wishbones (2005). His latest album, Ghost on the Car Radio, was released in June 2017. He has performed opening duties for Lyle Lovett, John Prine, and John Hiatt. In 2000, Cleaves released 'This Morning I Am Born Again' as a duet with legendary singer Emmylou Harris, to critical acclaim. His songs have been recorded by Robert Earl Keen, Guy Clark, Rodney Crowell, and Trace Adkins.
