Sun Kil Moon, also known as the pseudonym of Mark Kozelek, is an American singer-songwriter from Ohio who currently resides in San Francisco. Since 2000, Kozelek has released nine studio albums under the Sun Kil Moon moniker, as well as nine albums under the name Red House Painters. His music is generally marked by its depressing and reflective nature, combining folk and indie rock instrumentation. He has released a number of acclaimed and highly praised albums, such as Ghost of the Great Highway (2003) and April (2008). Kozelek’s work has been featured in a number of films, including the Academy Award-winning film Birdman. In 2016, he released the album Common As Light and Love Are Red Valleys of Blood, which received positive reviews from critics, and continued to tour for much of the year.
