The Contortionist is an progressive metalcore band formed in 2007 from Indianapolis, Indiana. They have released six studio albums, their most recent one being Our Bones in 2019. The main focus of their sound lies in an eclectic mix of metalcore and progressive metal, often utilizing rapid time signature changes and electronic elements. They have gone through a few lineup changes since their foundation but their core style has remained largely unchanged. Their 2009 debut album Exoplanet went on to become a cult classic and is often heralded as a milestone in modern metalcore. The Contortionist have grown to become a very influential band in the metalcore scene and continue to explore new musical territories in their compositions to this day.
