About Turkuaz

Turkuaz is an American funk-inspired nine-piece band from Brooklyn, NY. Drawing musical influence from the likes of James Brown, Steely Dan and Motown, the band’s sound consists of large horn and vocal arrangements, complex guitar rhythms and arrhythmic synths.

Since forming in 2008, Turkuaz has released seven studio albums, numerous live studio recordings and held countless performances across the US. Their most recent album, Life in the City, was released in 2019 to critical acclaim.

The band has become known for their high energy live shows, often drawing crowds of over 1,000 people. They perform regularly at festivals and venues across the US, including Red Rocks Amphitheatre and Brooklyn Bowl.

In addition, Turkuaz has had the opportunity to open for a number of artists, including The New Mastersounds, Electric Hot Tuna, Talking Heads and The String Cheese Incident. They have also appeared on iconic television shows
