Viking is a recurring musical project created in 1987 by Toronto-based composer Peter Venne. Venne has released several albums under the Viking name, most of which are solo records but some of which are collaborative efforts. A combination of synth-pop and new wave elements, Viking's music often blends striking melodies with strong, catchy beats. Venne has also been known to incorporate elements of progressive rock, old-school techno, and a touch of jazz fusion into his compositions. In 2011, he released one of his most acclaimed albums, Wasting Away, which featured guest performances from other Electronic Music artists such as Human League's Jo Callis and Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark's Martin Cooper. Since then, he has continued to record and tour, frequently performing to enthusiastic audiences.
