Whitesnake is a hard rock band formed in 1978 by David Coverdale after departing from his previous band Deep Purple. The group's sound initially mirrored Deep Purple. However, they went on to playing a more accessible style of rock in the years to follow. Revitalized in 1984, Whitesnake was a hit-making machine, making use of cheap tricks previously done the likes of Deep Purple of Led Zepplin. They were writing rock hooks was their thing! They've released several UK Top 10 albums while their "Slide it in" album from 1984, granted them a US top-charting as the album reached multi-platinum in the same country. They followed in 1987 with another hit in the form of "Here I Go Again", entering the number on the spot in the Billboard Hot 100 charts. Whitesnake entered the hall of fame of rock music with music that, to this day, gets constant radio playtime.
