Pittsburgh Pirates Honor Mac Miller with Bobblehead Giveaway

On July 19, 2025, the Pittsburgh Pirates paid tribute to the late rapper and Pittsburgh native, Mac Miller, by distributing commemorative bobbleheads during their game against the Chicago White Sox at PNC Park. This event was part of the annual Yinzerpalooza weekend, celebrating Pittsburgh's rich cultural heritage.

The bobblehead, designed in collaboration with Miller's family, features the artist wearing a white Pirates jersey emblazoned with the number "412," representing Pittsburgh's area code. He is also depicted wearing a black cap adorned with a black and gold yin-yang symbol, and his "Most Dope" knuckle tattoos are prominently displayed. A unique feature of the bobblehead is a button that plays Miller's hit song "Knock Knock." (si.com)

Fans began lining up as early as 8 a.m., with lines stretching across the Roberto Clemente Bridge and down Fort Duquesne Boulevard. The first 20,000 attendees received the exclusive bobblehead. (pittsburghbaseballnow.com)

In addition to the bobblehead giveaway, the Pirates released a limited-edition Mac Miller x Pirates T-shirt. The black shirt features the Pirates' "P" logo on the front and a large yin-yang symbol on the back, encircled by the lyrics, "Let me show the world just where my city at," from Miller's song "Smile Back." A portion of the proceeds from the T-shirt sales will benefit The Mac Miller Fund, supporting youth from underserved communities in exploring the arts and community building. (si.com)

Mac Miller, born Malcolm James McCormick, was a devoted Pirates fan, even sporting the team's "P" logo tattooed on his right hand. In 2015, he threw the ceremonial first pitch at a Pirates game. Miller passed away in 2018 at the age of 26 due to an accidental overdose. (si.com)

The overwhelming response to the bobblehead giveaway and T-shirt sales underscores the enduring impact of Mac Miller's legacy in Pittsburgh. Fans' enthusiasm highlights the deep connection between the artist and his hometown, as well as the community's appreciation for his contributions to music and culture.
