Brady Ebert, a founding member and former guitarist of the Baltimore-based hardcore band Turnstile, has been arrested and charged with attempted second-degree murder and first-degree assault. The charges stem from an incident on March 29, 2026, in Silver Spring, Maryland, where Ebert allegedly struck William Yates, the 79-year-old father of Turnstile's lead singer Brendan Yates, with his vehicle.

According to police reports, Ebert drove to the Yates residence, honking his horn and shouting obscenities. He then allegedly returned and intentionally hit William Yates with his car in the driveway, causing severe trauma to both of his legs. Surveillance footage reportedly captured the incident. After the attack, Ebert allegedly returned to the scene and told Yates that he "deserved it." (latimes.com)

Turnstile released a statement expressing their dismay over the incident, stating that they had cut ties with Ebert in 2022 due to a "consistent pattern of harmful behavior." They added that after exhausting all available resources to support his recovery, they had to set boundaries when "healthy communication was no longer possible and he began threatening violence." The band expressed gratitude that William Yates survived and is undergoing surgery, hoping for the best possible outcome in his recovery. (theprp.com)

Ebert's departure from Turnstile in 2022 reportedly involved a peace order. More recently, he was dismissed from his latest band, The S.E.T., in February 2026, following negative comments and behavior toward band members and the community. (theprp.com)

Turnstile, formed in 2010, has achieved significant success, including winning two Grammy Awards in February 2026 for Best Metal Performance and Best Rock Album. The band is scheduled to perform at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival later this month. (latimes.com)
