San Francisco Ballet is one of the oldest ballet companies in the United States and one of the most prominent. It was founded in 1933 by American dance pioneers, Adolph Bolm and Willam Christensen. In 1972 Burke Lazarus presented the first full-length production of Swan Lake in the U.S. At the helm of the San Francisco Ballet is Artistic Director, Helgi Tomasson, since 1985. Over the past thirty years, the SFB has gained a reputation as one of the premiere ballet companies in the world. It has won numerous awards and consistently tours all around the world, dazzling audiences with its masterful choreography.
