Austen Tayshus is a comedian, satirist, musician, and actor who has been working in comedy since the early 1980s. He has released four studio albums, all of which are humorous and satirize traditional Australian identity. He is best known for his song 'Australiana', which became the highest-selling single in Australia in the 1980s and the first Australian single to be certified gold. Tayshus has also appeared as a stand-up comedy act in numerous television shows, such as The Money or the Gun and The Big Gig. His latest appearance was in the 2018 TV miniseries Riot, which won him a Logie Award in 2019. He has a long-running radio show, "Unconventional Wisdom with Austen Tayshus", which he writes, produces, and hosts.
