Doug Stanhope is an American stand-up comedian and actor. He began his stand-up career in 1990 and has been a regular performer on The Howard Stern Show and British television. Stanhope's style of comedy is considered to be dark, confrontational and shocking at times. He has released six comedy albums, all of which have been well received. Throughout his career, Stanhope has been a strong advocate of free speech, with many of his comedy bits revolving around controversial topics such as politics, religion and drug use. Stanhope has also been praised for his observational and self-deprecating humor. In addition to his stand-up career, Stanhope has appeared in multiple TV shows and films, most notably in 2004's "The Aristocrats".
