David Bridie is an Australian musician, composer and producer originally from the northern suburbs of Melbourne. He is best known as a founding member of the now-defunct art rock band Not Drowning, Waving, and for his collaborations with artists like Archie Roach and Kev Carmody. Bridie's music is largely rooted in his lifelong passion for storytelling and culture, combining elements of folk, classical, rock, electronic and Aboriginal music. He is an ARIA nominee, as well as a Mercury and APRA award winner. Bridie has released four solo studio albums, the most recent entitled 'Act of Free Choice' in 2016. In addition to this work, he has also composed music for film, theatre and television. Bridie is a respected mentor and teacher in the intercultural space and was a part-time lecturer in music and sound production at BAFF, a not-for-profit Sidney-based facility.
