Alick Macheso tickets

Alick Macheso is a Zimbabwean musician who has been at the forefront of Zimbabwe’s traditional genre of music called Sungura for over two decades. He grew up in the rural areas and developed a passion for music at a young age. He founded Orchestra Mberikwazvo at the age of 20 and has gone on to release over 30 albums, make countless live performances and has traveled the world. He mixes traditional African music with sounds from America and Europe. He has been awarded several awards over the years including a Grammy nomination for his collaborative album ‘African Connection’ in 2013 and Africa’s Best Performing Musician in 2008 from the Confederation of African Music. He continues to keep Sungura alive and is also a respected figure outside of music as his music often highlights the socio-economic issues in Zimbabwe.
