Australian Crawl was an Australian rock band that formed in 1978 and achieved commercial success in the early 1980s. They were one of the most popular acts of the so-called ‘Pub Rock’ scene of the late 1970s and early 1980s. Their most successful album, 1981’s Sirocco, reached No.3 in the Australian charts and achieved gold status in the US, while their 1981 single ‘The Boys Light Up’ reached No.1 on the national singles chart. They had 13 singles in the top 40 between 1980 and 1986, and toured the country several times. The band split up in 1986, but reformed in 1988 for one last tour, before splitting up for good in 1989. The band was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2005.
