About Brisbane Symphony Orchestra
Brisbane Symphony Orchestra (BSO) is a professional symphony orchestra based in Brisbane, Australia. Founded in 1950 by music director and conductor, Dr Marcus Beresford, the orchestra is now one of Australia's most successful and prolific ensembles. The orchestra performs a diverse range of music, including new global premieres, symphonic works, and traditional classical music. Over the years, the BSO has been involved in a variety of educational and humanitarian activities, as well as performing at various music festivals and concerts. The current artistic director of BSO is Ricardo Averbach, who is also the Principal Guest Conductor. With more than 60 musicians, the orchestra is one of Australia's largest professional symphony orchestras. As such, it's become a major cultural force in Australia, regularly performing world-class music that has earned it international acclaim.
