About Chris Connor
Chris Connor was a celebrated jazz vocalist, known for her contralto voice. She was famously signed with the Atlantic Records label in the 1950s. She had considerable success during the conventional era of jazz, recording over twenty albums. Her records, in particular, Free Spirits, He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not, and Sings the George Gershwin Almanac of Song, remain revered today as jazz classics. Later in her career, she moved towards the female jazz vocalist style more commonly associated with Peggy Lee, performing around the world. Connor was posthumously inducted into the Big Band and Jazz Hall of Fame in 2000.
