About Christine Anu
Australian singer-songwriter Christine Anu has been delighting audiences with her unique fusion of soul, pop, and traditional Australian Aboriginal folk music since the early 1990s. Anu learned traditional Aboriginal music and dance from her grandmother, which she incorporates into her theatrical live performances. Her album Stylin' Up featured her first major hit, the Islander dance anthem "My Island Home," and from there, Anu skyrocketed to national and international stardom. In 2000, Anu released her hugely successful album Come My Way, with singles including covers of "Party" and "Jump to the Beat" as well as the politically charged "My Kitchen Rules." Anu released her next album in 2005, Chrissy's Island Family, combining traditional Indigenous folk elements with funk, soul, and reggae. She also stretched her bounds to explore acting and presenting for radio and television. Throughout the 2000s, Anu took up acting roles in feature films such as Australia and Goddess.
