Eddi Reader is a Scottish singer and songwriter who has been active in music since the late 1980s. She was the lead singer of the rock band Fairground Attraction, which had a UK number one single with "Perfect" in the late 1980s. Since then she has pursued a solo career, releasing over ten solo albums and working with numerous other musicians. Reader has also made a name for herself in folk circles, both as a solo artist and as part of supergroup McGoldrick, McCusker and Doyle, performing traditional Scottish and Irish songs as well as her own material. She is also well known for her frequent collaborations with CBE-awarded Scottish poet and singer, Rod Jones of Idlewild. Eddi Reader has developed an approach to folk-pop that has won her UK and US awards, including multiple BRITs for Best British Female and Best Original Song.
