JAKOB is a Canadian post-rock band formed in Auckland, New Zealand in 1998. Consisting of Jeff Boyle, Maurice Beckett, and Jason Johnson, JAKOB has become one of the most celebrated post-rock bands in the world. Their sound is a combination of shoegaze, alternative rock, and ambient electronica. Two of their releases, the 2003 album ‘Solace’ and the 2006 album ‘Cale:Drew’, were met with critical acclaim and are now considered to be among the most influential records in post-rock. The band has toured internationally, including performances at prominent music festivals such as SXSW, Primavera Sound, and Fuji Rock. Their latest album ‘Sines’ was released in 2018 to great reviews. JAKOB continues to be a well-respected and vibrant force in the post-rock and indie rock communities.
