About JD Souther

JD Souther is an American singer-songwriter, guitarist, and pianist. He is best known for being a part of the Eagles-affiliated "California sound" of the 1970s music scene. He penned many of the band's classic songs including "Best of My Love" and "Heartache Tonight". His solo career brought just as much success with hits such as "You're Only Lonely", "Silver Blue" and "Her Town Too".

Outside of his own career, Souther also wrote songs for other popular artists including Linda Ronstadt, James Taylor, and The Dixie Chicks. His collaborations made him respected in the music community and he has been inducted in both the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame. JD Souther has used his talents to influence generations of country and americana music.
