Lyle Lovett is an American singer, songwriter, and actor. He has achieved both critical and commercial success throughout a career that has spanned over 25 years. His classic country style often incorporates elements of folk, swing, blues, jazz, and rock and roll. His albums include Lyle Lovett (1986) which achieved platinum status, Pontiac (1987), and the Grammy-winning Lyle Lovett and His Large Band (1989). In addition to his albums, Lovett has released twelve singles, including his biggest hit, “If I Had a Boat” (1998). He has also co-written the song “Bears” for The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea. Lovett is known for his film roles in such films as The Player (1992), Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998), The Opposite of Sex (1998), and The New Guy (2002).
