Mating Ritual is an indie-electronic band from Los Angeles, California. Founded in 2013, the duo consists of Ryan Marshall Lawhon and Grant Clifford. Prior to the formation of Mating Ritual, the duo released music as Ghost Beach. Their debut album, How You Gonna Stop It?, was released in 2017. They have since gone on to release two EPs, Hot Content and Life is Hard. Their most recent release, Light Myself on Fire, was released in 2019. With ethereal melodies, robust production, and moody vocals, Mating Ritual creates expansive and emotive dream-pop music that blurs the lines between genres. They have drawn comparisons to bands like CHVRCHES and the The XX, with a unique sound that has earned them attention from the likes of Stereogum, Uproxx, and Nylon.
