About Meg Washington
Meg’s highly influential, genre-defying work has been widely recognised by her peers and industry. Nominated for 10 ARIA Awards and the winner of 3 - Breakthrough Artist, Best Female and most recently in 2020 for Best Cover Art for her fourth studio album, the ground-breaking and critically acclaimed Batflowers.
In 2014, Meg delivered a TEDx talk where she revealed her lifelong stutter, a speech which was picked up globally by TED and is still featured on their website. She also delivered her third album, 'There There' - which was written and produced with Grammy-award winning musician Sam Dixon. The Guardian gave the album 5 out of 5, calling it “a masterpiece from beginning to end."
Liberated by her TEDx talk, in 2018, Meg began her voice-acting role as the schoolteacher 'Calypso' in Bluey, and in 2020 delivered her critically acclaimed fourth record, 'Batflowers', which won her another ARIA, and was nominated for the Australian Music Prize. Of it, Rolling Stone observed: “There’s truly nothing that Megan Washington can’t do".
Collaborating on major international projects through her contributions to projects such as Bluey, Meg has also written all the songs for the upcoming musical feature film ‘The Deb’ - produced and directed by Rebel Wilson (2024). With her partner Nick Waterman, she has also written a feature film screenplay adaption of Paul Kelly’s classic ‘How to Make Gravy’ and is co-producing the film with Warner Bros. Australia (2024).
Meg released an exquisite take on the seminal album from The Killers - ‘Hot Fuss’ late 2022 and her forthcoming 5th album is expected in 2024 under her own label ‘Batflower Records’ in partnership with French distribution ‘Believe’.
