About Melbourne Symphony Orchestra
The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (MSO) is an Australian orchestra based in Melbourne, Victoria. Founded in 1906 it is one of Australia's major arts organisations. It is considered one of the country’s leading orchestras in terms of sound quality, innovation and cultural outreach initiatives.
The MSO performs a year-round program that includes subscription concert series, specialised concerts, Opera Australia productions, and world-wide touring engagements. They collaborate with the world’s leading conductors and soloists, and with international ballet companies.
The MSO also engages in an extensive array of education and outreach activities, including a Schools Outreach Program, a series of Open Rehearsals, a Young Promoters Network, Young Composers Program and the MusicLab music program.
