About Nubya Garcia
Nubya Garcia is a British jazz saxophonist, composer and producer. She is celebrated for her experimental approach, drawing from progressive jazz, Jamaican dub, dancehall and Afro-Caribbean traditions. Since emerging in 2016, she has toured extensively and performed at festivals around the world, including Glastonbury and Love Supreme.
In late 2019, Garcia released her debut solo album 'Source' and it received high praise from critics. The album explores the connections between sound system culture and traditional jazz. She also released two EPs, When We Are and Finding Ignment, a collaborative project with her band Maisha.
Garcia is also an educator, teaching young and upcoming musicians music production, improvisation and composition. She has featured on multiple BBC Radio Sessions and composed an original score for the animated 2020 film 'There's Something In The Water'.
