About Roy Ayers
Roy Ayers is an innovator in the world of jazz and funk music. He assisted in creating and solidifying the sounds of what is now known as ‘acid jazz’. Born in Los Angeles, Ayers began playing vibraphone and piano as a child. In 1966, he released his debut recording album, West Coast Vibes, setting him up for a long, successful career. With over 80 albums to his name, he’s collaborated with some of the biggest names in jazz, funk and soul, from Erykah Badu to Mary J. Blige. His career has spanned over five decades, during which he’s been recognized for his talent as a multi-instrumentalist, producer, arranger and vocalist.
